Over the past week, Spring beauty (Claytonia virginica) have taken over the parks and nature areas I’ve visited. The lovely pink/white flowers with deep pink stripes are one of the first southeast Michigan native plants to bloom in spring. I love seeing them in large patches of more than 100 feet in size at the neighborhood park, where this photo was taken earlier in the week. The four to six-inch flowers don’t last long. When I visited the park yesterday, many of the blooms had already started forming seed capsules. For my readers in the northern hemisphere, what spring flowers are blooming in your area? The post Photo of the Week: Spring Beauty first appeared on Lireo Designs.
