I took M into town on the bus this morning. (M loves to ride the bus.) We rode it all the way to the ferry terminal. We watched the big boat come in, unload all the people coming from the island, then load all the people heading to the island, before disembarking. We walked along the beach. We walked until we stopped to watch an old man making big bubbles with a loop of rope on two sticks. The same old man who just earlier passed us by on his bike with a trailer hitch full of what I now know to be bubble-making supplies. He stood on a short stone ledge between sand and grass, the beach boundary, conjuring big balloon whales. After a while M and I walked up the hill, out of the so-called bowl and into the high street. I was fully intent on going to the bakery and getting us a donut. Along the way I checked the bus schedule in the app. We usually catch the 11:30 bus back to the house, which usually gives us a little over an hour to explore the town.
