I'm fascinated by the fact that communism seems like the most compassionate system for managing an economy, while capitalism seems like the most cruel……yet capitalism has led to the most people being brought out of extreme poverty in human history, while communism has caused the most suffering.And no—this isn't one of those posts where I say, "and that's why I'm a capitalist".What I am is someone who is both compassionate and observant of how the world works. And that makes me deeply curious about what's going on here.Perhaps the simplest answer is that capitalism is a crappy system that can be relied upon to turn malignant when it becomes too primary, but that also has a wonderful side effect of encouraging human creativity. And communism has an obviously-right feeling to it while reliably crushing the human spirit and creating a centralized and all-powerful super-class.So if you do too much capitalism and not enough socialism, you ruin everything.
