One of the adaptations I have learned to make for myself over the years is to always have a garbage bin within arm's reach. One of the disability adaptations I have learned to make for myself over the years is to always have a garbage bin within arm's reach. I live in a pretty small 1.5BR1BA apartment and I have five garbage bins. One in the bedroom beside the bed, one in the bathroom, one in the kitchen under the sink, one beside the couch, and one beside my desk. Whenever I have the thought "I need to throw this out" I can just do that immediately, usually without moving. And I do not fuss about putting a bit of paper or plastic into the garbage because if I leave it on the table thinking I'll put it in the recycling later, I won't, and six months later it will still be sitting there collecting dust and being in the way. These are also all intentionally small garbage bins. They are slightly small for a 25L "kitchen" sized bag. And this is so that I have to empty them frequently.…
