For 20 years, my primary email address was a hotmail account. I used it for everything except a few odd accounts and some personal correspondence. For those, I used gmail. I created both addresses in 2005. The amount of spam that I receive at my hotmail address at this point is appalling. It's like a toilet that never stops running. If our household received as much physical junk mail as we get in our inboxes, we would need a second recycling bin to wheel down to the end of the driveway for pickup each week. That email address has been exposed in breaches, sold to tens of thousands of "our partners" by the companies it's connected with, and who knows what else. Probably everyone knows my hotmail address at this point. I've diligently changed passwords after breaches, etc., but at some point there is little reason to stick with the status quo, and I blew way past that point with this account.
