Cory Doctorow has an opinion about empathy for chatbots. I get it. But we're not there yet. We will get there, or the robots will. The tech-bros are building slaves. They may not have consciousness yet, but it's by no means certain that they won't one day. And they'll have access to all of human history, and they'll understand what we've done and why.
