Following up on some posts from RNOTTE and Living kindfully, but I've also noticed this cynicism as well in the world around me. I think I see a lot of this in regard to the entertainment we have pushed on us much to what RNOTTE was discussing. When was the last big comedy film? I guess The Naked Gun remake, but I just rewatched the original instead. Other than that comedy doesn't even go to the theater. Feel good films are not released either. I'd say the Andy Weir book films and maybe a few of the Christopher Nolan films like Interstellar have optimistic outlooks. I feel like this isn't a new thing though and it's just what works in a world that feels to be so close to bad things happening all the time. Looking at what happened in the 60's as nuclear war was a real possibility and wars were also happening. Also Watergate and political issues were happening. During this time the movies that came out also leaned heavy. The only director who seemed to break that trend was Mel Brooks…
